What is Firvale Wilderness Camp?

Firvale Wilderness Camp is a small, family-owned wilderness lodge in British Columbia’s Bella Coola Valley. We offer thoughtfully designed, all-inclusive adventure packages, grizzly bear viewing experiences, intimate weddings, elopements, family getaways and corporate retreats in the Great Bear Rainforest.

Is Firvale all-inclusive?

Yes. Firvale exclusively offers all-inclusive packages rather than nightly accommodation. Packages include private cabin or glamping-dome accommodation, chef-prepared meals, snacks and the scheduled activities listed in the selected itinerary.

We do not include alcoholic beverages, guests can purchase those at the local store and serve themselves.  

Transportation to Bella Coola is not included unless specifically stated.

What months does Firvale operate?

Our main operating season runs from late May through early October.

The Great Bear Adventure Package operates from approximately late May through August. Our Grizzly Adventure Package operates from late August through early October, during the annual salmon run.

Are activities included?

Yes, activities are included in the price.

How is Firvale different from a fly-in wilderness lodge?

Firvale offers a remote wilderness experience without requiring an expensive charter flight to reach the lodge. Guests can reach Bella Coola by scheduled commercial flight, vehicle or BC Ferries.

Our location provides access to mountains, rainforest, rivers, fjords and wildlife while still allowing guests to explore different parts of the Bella Coola Valley. Firvale combines this accessibility with small groups, private accommodations, chef-prepared dining and hands-on hosting by the owners.

How do guests reach Bella Coola?

Guests can reach Bella Coola in three primary ways:

  • By air: Pacific Coastal Airlines offers scheduled flights from Vancouver. The flight is approximately 1.5 hours.
  • By road: Highway 20 connects Bella Coola with Williams Lake. The drive from Vancouver takes approximately 12 hours and includes a remote gravel section and the steep descent known as “The Hill.”
  • By ferry: BC Ferries operates a seasonal route between Port Hardy and Bella Coola. The sailing takes approximately 10 hours.

Firvale can provide local arrival and departure information once travel arrangements are confirmed.

Does Firvale offer nightly accommodation?

No. Firvale does not operate as a nightly hotel or campground. We exclusively offer multi-night, all-inclusive adventure packages, weddings, elopements and private group retreats.
